Old Problem, default SIP handler

Postby ksearles » Mon Feb 22, 2010 2:16 pm

I found this disscusion in one of the forums and this fix will work however I want to know if there is a reg setting I can just put into a reghack file (.reg) and then just have my clients import the correct settings via a script. If someone can tell me the reg key where the following options are at then I can do the rest. I have tried to search the reg for the settings but I just cant seem to find the entrys where the default is held at.

So in a nut shell I want to set the default SIP handler, via a reg file or command line via logon script.

My reps use a computer that is joined to the domain. I always made sure that when i installed the Bria, I was in administration mode. However, I would install the sip account under their own user name that doesn't have any admin privileges. So... when i did the first click to sip and it asked me if I wanted to use Bria as the default SIP handler, I said, yes. however... it did use it as default, but it wouldn't ever dial the number.

The solution was...

install the Bria as administrator and then run a test account and set the default sip handler as administrator instead of as the regular user. Then the SIP default is automatically set for all users. Problem solved.

For the people who already had it not functional, i had to un-install their Bria and re-install it again following the procedure I will outline below...

1) Install Bria (administrator)
2) Configure SIP account and Settings (administrator)
3) Open internet browser and type: sip:15551234567 in the address bar and hit enter.
4) It asks you to set Bria as the default SIP handler. (Select Always)
5) Log out as administrator
6) login as regular user
7) Configure Bria SIP account
Open internet browser and type: sip:15551234567 in the address bar and hit enter.
9) It asks you to set Bria as the default SIP handler. (Select Always)
10) Works...

It should get set here:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\sip\shell\open\command
Data:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\CounterPath\Bria 3.0\Bria30.exe" -action=call?to="%1"
