Problem with int. calls - Dialing Preferences settings

Postby Guest » Fri Jun 29, 2012 9:19 am

Hi guys,

I use X-Lite from Europe and dials mostly international calls. In version 4 the use of entering +countrycode and number worked just fine. In the new version 5 I need to set Dialing Preferences and set International prefix to 011 (my SIP provider is from the US), select United States in Country. But I can't have the Dial out prefix empty.

I have tried entering 0 as Dial out prefix and 11 as International prefix. That works just fine when dialing international calls but then dialing US won't work.

Tips how to fix this?

Kind regards,
Ricco

Development support needs to see this and get this bug fixed. (Need a setting to allow disabling of X-Lite 5 dialing rules)

I am in Australia but our platform is essentially global so the problem will exist even if I am in USA, UK or Mongolia.

I see others have this (similar) problem

I CANNOT dial out from X-Lite 5. Local, mobile, national or international.

X-Lite 5 dialing rules interfere with the ability to make calls. It forces a prefix to be added at the front of every call, assuming every user is behind a PABX.

I am a great fan of Counterpath technology. I have used Counterpath products from the original Xten. I currently have X-Lite 3 and 4 and eyeBeam 1.5 on my desktop and notebook (they all have different uses/benefits). I use Bria on my iPhone, iPad and (soon) Desktop and Notebook (some also with XMPP messaging enabled) NONE of these force any dedicated dialing rules as it does in X-Lite 5.

The new X-Lite 5 Dialing rules settings are not compatible with our VoIP system. Our system (using Net2MAX) has no physical PABX to get 'out" of. It is virtual. All our devices are in a global online PABX and dialing rules can be optionally set by the system, user or device. Each device I use has it's own unique address and virtual PABX and does not need to be behind a hardware PABX.

Because I cannot disable the dialing rules I had to go back to version 3. (versions 3 and 4 ARE compatible with our system by default)

I cannot use version 4 either as they removed 3-way calling (conference) and call recording
PS I am also annoyed that they FORCE us to view the advert for Softfone.com and NOT give us the ability to stop, pause or cancel the video!

I did a 'cludge' to the rules to make it somewhat work and test that the dialing rules were the culprit...
- Set 9 in Dial out prefix
- Set +61 in International prefix
- Set Default extension length to 10 (max allowed) and called a 10 digit number
- Dialed out fine on 10 digit (or less) phone numbers and internal speed dial numbers (101, 102, 4587 etc)

So...
I deleted and reinstalled X-Lite 5

Did all the settings as per a normal installation BUT... I did NOT make ANY changes to the default Dialing rules settings (empty, empty, 4, Canada). If you do then it demands you meet X-Lite 5's requirements, even though the (empty) defaults (which my accounts work with) do not even meet X-Lite 5's own requirements.

Hope this all helps and I see a fix come soon so others can benefit from this great product.

Cheers, Glenn

Hi,
Thanks Glenn, I confirm that using similar settings work perfectly now on X-Lite 5 with the OVH VoIP provider.

Cheers,
Stef
