IMPORTANT: Bria Android Edition Update & License Transition

Postby adonis » Thu Jan 26, 2012 9:36 am

With CounterPath’s latest release of Bria Android Edition 1.2, we are excited to add Messaging and Presence to the Premium Features available for in-app purchase. In order for your Bria softphone app to support the Messaging and Presence add-on, and future Premium Feature add-ons like Video Calls, you need to complete the following steps to transition your Bria Android Edition license to the Android Market. This will be done through a refund process to ensure that you retain access to your Bria app while the license transfers to the Market.

If you choose to not transition your license to the Android Market, there will be no change to your current Bria Android Edition softphone. You will still be able to make and receive voice calls, but you will no longer receive updates for your softphone client. If you wish to continue to receive updates to the product, we ask that you transition your license to the Android Market at this time.

Please note the transition program is only available until February 29, 2012 – if you do not transition by this time, you will need to re-purchase your Bria app from the Android Market if you wish to upgrade to version 1.2+ in the future.

Transition Program Process
1. Purchase and install Bria Android Edition from the Android Market: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.bria.voip.
2. Copy your account settings over from your previous version of Bria Android Edition, as the new version will not configure automatically.
3. Send an email to androidrfnd@counterpath.com with a copy of your receipt from the Android Market. Please ensure this includes your email address, amount paid and currency type.
4. CounterPath will refund the purchase price of your replacement application through PayPal by March 15, 2012. If you do not have a PayPal account, please set one up by visiting https://www.paypal.com and completing the necessary information.
5. Ensure that you have installed your new Bria Android Edition client to your device by March 30, 2012, as all licenses that have been migrated to the Android Market will be revoked at this time.
NOTE: If you had also purchased the G.729 codec through the CounterPath Store, please re-purchase as well and submit the receipt in step 3 for a full refund.

We greatly appreciate your cooperation and patience in participating in the transition program. If you have any questions please email androidrfnd@counterpath.com.

Thank you,
The CounterPath Team

Are we supposed to proceed via in-app purchase for G729 license transition (vs directly from the market)? I am using v1.2.1.45629 beta release and don't see this option. Is in-app purchase unavailable in the beta releases?

hi lifespeed,

yes, the option won't be avail in the beta releases, only the official Market version. You'll need to install the official Market version after uninstalling the beta in order to see the in-app purchase for G.729.

(G.729 is included in the time-bombed trial builds.)

thanks

hi~
I purchased "Bria Android Edition & G.729 Upgrade for Bria Android Edition" from the Counterpath Store at Dec 2010.
today, install and download Bria Android Edition 1.2 from the Counterpath Store..
input my license(app license, codec license), good.. :D

But uninstall these for Transition my license to the Android Market,
i can't purchase Bria Android Edition,
because, see "already purchased" and error message 'download declined.... haven't purchased'
of course i haven't purchased it on Market.

i find googling that bug of lastest Maket App version(v3.4.4)
so i'll change old version(v2.3.x) my Maket App, try again purchase for transition.. Wish me luck.

ps. if i still can't purchase it, then i will mail to Counterpath for Support!!!
have good day....

I purchased "Bria Android Edition & G.729 Upgrade for Bria Android Edition" from old Market v2.3.6.
the presumption is that Market (v3.4.4) have bugs.
i mailed to CounterPath and waiting refund me the purchase price of my replacement application.

Hey I've just noticed this anouncement ... how come I did not receive a news letter with this or something ?
I'm still on 1.1.10 version does this mean I will not be able to have a free 1.2 upgrade ?

Wtf ... I've bought both versions of yours iphone + android + G729 codecs ... I don't deserve free update to 1.2 because I did not see this topic in time ??!!
Why didn't you send a newsletter or something ??!!

If you are expecting your refund via Paypal, the following applies to you:

We experienced an issue with Paypal during the process of issuing the payments. We're working with Paypal right now to fix the issue and disburse the payments ASAP. We thank you for your patience as we sort out this matter.

It's now two months since I repurchased the g729 codec. Still no cheque or paypal credit. No posts on the forum or emails from support to say what's going on. Do you still plan on issuing a refund or have I been taken?
