Are you using an iPad 1 or 2?

Thanks -

I am sorry spacee, I do not come back very often. I am actually using iphone4. I have found an issue though: sometimes voyager PRO disconnects and does not connect by itself, I must go to the Bluetooth screen and select the plantronics to reconnect it.

Plantronics 975

Postby JeremyG » Wed Nov 09, 2011 4:28 pm

My Plantronics 975 works well, though I can't end a call from it. Transferring a call from the phone to the headset works by using its button. I'm using an iPhone 4 (4.3.3) and Bria 1.3.4.

Native incoming calls do make the car ring (so to speak :D ). Please add this facility so I can answer the phone from the car, rather than digging in my pocket!

I sincerely second this question. I drive a Chrysler and have a factory installed bluetooth connectivity that works totally fine will all Bluetooth phones in our company. Bria routes the sound sound to bluetooth OK, but will never route the ring, so I have to dig into my pocket to see who's calling and answer or decline. Can the ring be routed to the car's bluetooth? It's a huge safety and convenience problem. I am surprised only one person raised this question before - now the VOIP setup is barely useable in car. Please kindly add the ring option.

Thank you.

[quote="aolive"]I'm currently using the iPad2 with a Jawbone Era and it works well.

aolive, are you able to use both the earpiece and the microphone on the era for calls on Bria?

Thanks,

Here are my findings; using the Jawbone Era with the iPad 2 and Bria. I just bought the iPad 2 on 11/17/2011 and the Jawbone Era on 11/20/2011

The good
1. The Era connected via bluetooth very quickly and easily, in fact the battery meter for the Era shows on the iPad 2.
2. Audio from Bria worked great and audio from the Era worked great. I could hear callers clearly and callers could hear my clearly. The earpiece and microphone work fine, in fact I was able to walk about the suggested distance given by Jawbone (33ft, 10m) and still hear sound clearly.

The not so good
1. You can not answer the call from the Era. You must press the answer button in Bria from your iPad. The same goes for ending a call (unless the caller hangs up first).
2. There is no voice dialing (I believe this is a limitation by Apple and/or Bria), so you must initiate the call from the Bria application.

If there are questions about this please let me know.

Thanks,

Dan

Hi, just wanted to check if there is any progress in making Bria "ring" through car Bluetooth, not just route the audio?

I recently purchased the iPad 3 and installed Bria 2.1.0. My Plantronics Discovery 975 works well enough but unfortunately the answer/hang-up button does not. Audio seems fine and I can switch between speaker and my listed "9xxPlantronics" device without a problem. However, not being able to answer the phone with my bluetooth and instead having to pull out my iPad, then swipe to answer is inconvenient. I've had the 975 for over two years and am willing to purchase a new bluetooth earpiece as long as it works well and is able to answer/hang-up from the device itself (you know, like a bluetooth earpiece is suppose to).

CounterPath Support got back to me quick enough but to only let me know that "Currently, we're unable to answer from the bluetooth device. If we're able to implement this in the future, we certainly will." What does that mean? Does it mean they are working on it? Does it mean they can't do it but would like to? Is it only for some devices but not others? I didn't even mention which bluetooth device I have.

I have not rated Bria on iTunes yet. I'm hoping they will make an effort on this issue soon as I believe the software deserves 5 stars except for this one problem. I really believe I should be able to answer from my bluetooth.

A list of bluetooth devices that work and can answer from the device would be very helpful. Thanks.

It means (also for other features with such answer) that currently iOS does not have support for it.
And we might do it later when such support is available.

You need to remember that we are not acting in a void. And that if something is possible for an Apple app, it does not mean that it is possible for 3rd party apps.
Apple does not provide full support for developers to do all that might seem should be done.
This is Apple iOS, not Symbian. Getting my point?

More examples of iOS limitations for 3rd party VoIP apps:
- be able to do call waiting with native call (now native call takes over the whole audio system)
- be able to answer a call without PIN unlock.
- ring incoming call on many audio devices (it is possible since iOS6).
- access native call logs.
- native call intercept
- support for custom ringtones.

Thank you for the clarification. It wasn't clear to me that Apple didn't let you. That's not surprising. However, in future responses, you may want to respond to emails with what you first wrote here: "currently, iOS does not have support for it." The word "unable" might be interpreted to mean that you haven't figured out how to yet. ;)

Since I started to use Bria for Iphone, I have the following issue:

During a car drive my Car-kit, which is connected through BT, mutes my radio and shows audio files (from the iPhone) on the display and after 1-2 seconds it's back to normal. This happens regular, sometimes multiple times per 5 minutes. It's annoying, and I've first thought that the Iphone or the car-kit was responsible for this behaviour, but it only happens when Bria is started. Maybe it has something to do with 3G roaming?

I'm not sure if I'm the only one.

BTW I use a parrot MKi-9200 (http://www.parrot.com/nl/producten/blue ... ot-mki9200)

Is there some Apple contact that end users may pester to lobby for BT HFP call connect/disconnect support for 3rd Party VoIP apps? At least for Bria? Seems like a serious safety issue in cars.

BT headset: Sony/Ericsson MW600
Apple IOS device: iPad 2
