About time, just kidding, thank you for the new version of X-Lite, I am sure it will turn out awesome. For all of those complaining about features not available yet, go pay for a phone or stop complaining about something you got for free. Try and keep your post to bug fixes with the features it currently has  and say thank you CounterPath for taking the time.

Hello,

I would like to inform and ask a question.
Inform: Running the latest Snow Leopard seed (10A421a) the X-Lite 4.0 Beta doesn't work at all. Trying to open the Preferences does not open.
Version 3.0 opens and seems to operate just fine, except that that incoming/outgoing calls have no audio at all. I know I am ahead of the curve here, I am not complaining, just reporting my experience.

Question: Anyone has any idea if any of the other Mac OS sip compatible phones (like eyeBeam) will work with Snow Leopard?... I really want to test, but don't want to pay the license if this isn't going to work.

Thanks,
barnys

I'm running Beta 4 on a MacBook Pro with Leopard (10.5). It seems to work fine and is very useful.

One possible, tweak, however: If I'm interpreting things correctly, it looks like for each call X-Lite opens a Bluetooth connection (in my configuration). But, there doesn't seem to be a corresponding disconnect on hangup. Instead, when I exit the application, it seems all earlier connections are released "in bulk" at that time. If this is true, X-Lite beta is using resources unnecessarily.

Anyway, not a complaint, just a note that there may be a problem with an easy fix.

Thanks!

Derek, this is a major improvement in a mac environment, overall, well done!

Two noticeable issues, one's a bug, one's a 'feature' matter.

In the former case, the time clock that tracks call duration records improperly once the hour mark has been passed typically we get 1:62:09 as an example, when we should have: 1:02:09, etc.

The feature matter is for non-USA users, like me here in Australia. When we type a number into the X-Lite Beta for MAC number entry field, it auto formats as if it were always going to be a US number pattern, ie, (XXX) YYY - ZZZZ. All non-US phone systems differ from this, eg, in Australia, for land lines we have (XX) YYYY ZZZZ, and for cell phones (XXXX) YYYYYY. This does not stop the call proceeding properly, it's cosmetic, but it's simply not helpful if you are using this product outside the US, which I am sure many of your users are.

As I just posted elsewhere, at least in my experience today, OS X 10.6 is not permitting X-Lite Beta for MAC to function.

For example, no call number can be entered, many menu bar items for the app don't work (though they appear OK).

When do you assess a Snow Leopard update might be ready for this version of X-Lite, will it parallel the soon-upcoming 10.6 update for Eye-Beam on MAC?

The biggest residential VOIP provider here in Australia (Engin) has just pushed all its softphone users onto the latest X-Lite versions, and MAC has a large market share here.

Hi,

I read the warnings so I was 100% clear that neither X-Lite 3.0 nor X-Lite 4.0b were supported in Snow Leopard. I just got curious and tried it out to see what happened for me.

I found a slightly different behaviour with X-Lite 4.0b than other people who've sent messages to this list. For me, when I started the client, the usual GUI came up but with the spinning beachball. After a minute or so, the client simply crashed. I had tried the beta client under Leopard before upgrading and was very impressed with it. I agree with the previous poster that the auto-formatting of the numbers is slightly off-putting for non-US users. I'm based in France, where all numbers are expressed in pairs (e.g. 06 12 34 56 78 for a mobile phone) and are always 10 digits long.

Keep up the great work and I look forward to positive news on the Snow Leopard support :-)

Rgds,

Guy

Derek,

I've been following the EyeBeam discussion re. the "no audio" condition following the upgrade to Mac OS 10.6 Snow Leopard. I also saw that you released a fix on Friday/Saturday. Since the same problem also exists with X-Lite (3.0 or 4b), when can we expect an X-Lite release that will support Snow Leopard, and will it only be for the Beta vs. 3.0?

Thanks,
Chris

Hi Chris

I have no ETA at this time for an X-Lte release that will work with Snow Leopard.
If I get any more information I'll post it here.

Thanks Derek, and for your help over the years :D

Given the good effort CounterPath (and your users) have made with X-Lite Beta for MAC, and the fact that the mods required for Snow Leopard for X-Lite will, hopefully, be minor, it would be appreciated if the tech team could consider this update asap.

Your post today appears very non-comital as to when an X- Lite update for Snow Leopard might arrive. My VOIP provider here has reported - rightly or wrongly - problems with Eye Beam for MAC on their network and are pushing all such users to X - Lite.

Anyway, any further input or update from you on this issue would be appreciated. Mac is taking more and more market share from MSFT!

OK Here is the story:

There will no no new X-Lite 3 for MAC for Snow Leopard.
X-Lite 4 BETA for MAC will work on Snow Leopard with the next release.
I expect that will be out shortly and posted here first.

An updated MAC eyeBeam client has already been posted.

PowerMac support for X-Lite v4?

Postby rorya » Tue Jan 26, 2010 3:57 pm

I just tried the 3rd beta for v4 and noticed there is no PowerPC (PowerMac) support included. Is this coming in a later beta perhaps? I'm currently using v3 and it works with PowerMac, though it hangs after a long running session.

Build 56227 seems very stable for me at this point. Multiple call handling is very nice and easy to understand which call is which.

A couple of small UI issues that would be nice:

Focus still seems nonintuitive - if I switch to X-Lite my focus is not where the keyboard works. In X-Lite 3, the cursor would be in the dialed number field and I could simply type and hit enter.

Double-clicking on a call history item still brings up a dialog box and does not redial. It is also impossible (as far as I can tell) to copy a phone number from the log (right-click could offer a 'copy' option or just allow selecting and using command + C)

Thanks again, look forward to seeing Bria 3 for OS X soon!

Postby aledanda » Tue Feb 02, 2010 5:09 am

Hi,

I'm new in the forum.
I just downloaded X-lite beta version for mac and I intend to use it with Voipstunt. I can easily make calls and the audio is perfect but I'M NOT HEARED! I tried all the possible MIcrophone set up...It just doesn't work!
Can we maybe compare my settings and yours?

Thanks a lot
