Person on Receiving End Can't Hear Me

Postby TrinitiComm » Fri Feb 12, 2010 4:05 pm

I am using Bria 2.5.4 Build 53962 on two Windows 7 Ultimate x86 machines. Everything works as it should on both except on one no audio is being heard by the caller. I can see the mic gauge going up and down as I speak and can even record the call where both parties are heard in the recording but the other person still cannot hear me. We have the honor setting checked and have tried it both with and without. The firewall settings are identical on both machines. There is also an echo in my headset when no audio is being heard. A couple of times when I called, I could be heard but that is only like 2 out of 20.

Another thing I noticed is that when I place a call to a cellphone from this machine, the other person can hear me fine and there is no echo on my side. We are stumped on why this is happening when calling within the network or when receiving a call from our VoIP phone service but just on one machine. We really need to get this resolved ASAP.

In my experience, when this occurs, you need to check your Account Settings. Go to File > Account Settings. Then Edit for the affected account. Go to the Topology tab, and select "Use local IP address" and "Use this server:" Leave the text box blank. Then Enable ICE should be UNCHECKED. Try those settings, and see if your problem is resolved. K

I had tried that before from some other posts. I tried it again at your suggestion and it did not work. One time they could hear me. All the other times dead silence.

It is the same problem that I posted (Thu Feb 04) : Bria 2.5 - My partner heard me very bad. Windows 7 problem --> http://forums.counterpath.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=16181

There are absolutely no issues that are Win 7 specific.
It is one of the best platforms to use.

Ok. I agree. So do you have a solution to this dilemma? We really need to get this phone working. Well when the licensing server is working again that is.

Lack of audio is nearly always a networking issue (assuming that you have ruled out a cross codec problem.
Have you checked a Wireshark trace of a failed call from the machine running the app?

The licensing ordeal has prompted us to move to Bria 3 on just two of our machines. Mine and the CTOs for testing purposes. We just redid the ThinkPad with the problem yesterday and it is still doing the same thing after a full wipe and OS reinstall With Bria 2. All settings are identical on our other Windows 7 Ultimate x86 machine (mine).

But, with Bria 3 installed and working properly on both machines, the problem is now a little bit different. I have created a thread explaining the details here. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=16275

Hi, I have the same problem on my iPad 4G. When calling in 3G no one can hear me. I've bought recently Codec 729, but it continues... Thx for any idea how to resolve this problem.

I tried to see your link about a brief tutorial: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=8012, but the system tells me that I am not authorised to read it, why? Piowal
