MagicJack and EyeBeam

Postby printapetalsales@gmail.co » Thu Jan 22, 2009 9:53 am

Ok. Let me start by saying you guys are a bunch of frickin' geniuses! every problem i've had so far, i've easily found the solution for on this board, and for that i am GREATLY appreciative! On to my question.....

I have my MagicJack piped through EyeBeam (just so i can benefit from multiple lines, and so i have all my numbers in one place). However, it disables the natural functions of magicjack (specifically having my analog phone ring, displace callerID, and being able to pick up my phone to answer a call). Is there any way to have these abilities in eyebeam? or do i have to go back to the crappy magicjack software? So, just to summarize.. I want to be able to:

1. Have my eyebeam calls, ring through to my analog phone (via the magic jack ATA-RJ11 adapter)

2. Answer calls by picking up my phone (without having to actually click answer in eyebeam)

3. This one is much less necassary, but i'd like to be able to see my callerID displayed on my analog phone (as well as in eyebeam, just like the way the magicjack software worked)

Any help would be greatly appreciated, and i know if anyone can answer these questions, it's you guys! Thanks in advance, and for all your continued hard work and supports!

Hi Justin

That is one odd arrangement.. :)
I have to assume by your results that MJ only supports a single registration at a time.

There are some 3rd party USB adapters that will allow you to connect eyeBeam to your regular phones, but I have no idea if caller ID would be supported.
If you are a tinkerer.... I would try running asterisk and connect that to MJ. Then you can run and ring as many extensions as you desire.

Better yet, use a provider that actually allows connections from a PbX. ;)

Hi Derek. The MagicJack is basically just a tigerjet ata-rj11 adapter with some built in storage and an autorun softphone. I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work as well as any other tigerjet adapter. I do have my regular phone connected and i use that and/or my plantronic headset (connected to my phone; NOT my computer), and it works fine. When using the magicjack software, my analog phone can be used as usual (it rings, displays callerID, i can call from it, and i can pick up calls all without ever having to touch my computer, and while the magicjack softphone is running). I just want it to work the same way with eyebeam. Any ideas besides asterisk? i am a techie/tinkerer, but i'd rather not go through the trouble if i don't have to :)

Nothing other than asterisk.

The Magic Jack adapter may be basically the same, but it is not a supported device.
